Arts in Health at FMC

Tanya Voges, FMC SALA Artist-in-Residence 2020

Drawn to Movement stems from an invitation to connect with patients at Flinders Medical Centre at a time when we are all experiencing some level of isolation. I proposed to share my dance and drawing practice, with patients resting during their hospital stay to make the remote Artist-in-Residence possible. Arts in Health at FMC were supportive of this happening remotely and video became the site for exploring this connection from my home studio to the patient’s bedside. Drawn to Movement residency includes a series of participatory videos hosted on the Arts in Health at FMC YouTube Channel and are currently open for all to participate. The invitation to movement and drawing responses, help connect and reframe the space we inhabit and how we can exist within it when we aren’t feeling our normal healthful selves. Drawn to Movement film is the artist's response to connecting to a protective space, a defined space to stay safe within, and recognition that we always carry this personal space with us and within us, and the lines of energy connect us through the movements and gestures we make.
