Dance Movement Therapy & Creative Arts Therapy

Dance Movement Therapy is a non verbal therapeutic process, where you can regulate emotions, strengthen cognitive processing, align body and mind to work towards health in a holistic, person centred manner.

As part of the Creative Arts Therapies, Dance Movement Therapy is an evidence based practice that is person centred, trauma-informed and can be conducted as an individual or group session.

As a non-verbal therapy, sessions can be tailored to work towards physical, emotional, social, cognitive and cultural goals. Sessions might involve using art materials as part of the emergent process or encourage different ways of moving to support personal goals.

Moving toward wellbeing together, dance movement therapy sessions are solutions focussed therapy, providing opportunities to embody change and support wellness through physical expression. Tanya works alongside the participant/s prioritising mental health and supporting connection to self, others and the environment. Movement is a wonderful way to self regulate and you don’t have to have any experience with dance previously, as your habitual movements are a starting point for the therapy to grow from.

Therapeutic rapport is built in a safe enough environment in both one to one therapy and within group therapy contexts. Group therapy can strengthen social domains and allows for connections within a specific community. Individual sessions can be done within your own home in Adelaide or online anywhere in the world.

Creative Arts Therapy and Dance Movement Therapy can be tailored to meet existing and new goals for people registered with NDIS. Tanya is happy to negotiate a service agreement with participants who have an NDIS self managed plan. Usually this meets Capacity Building, Improved Daily Living line item which is Support Item Reference #:15_056_0128_1_3.
