Artist Wellbeing Services

Tanya is passionate about helping artists and arts companies provide holistic care approaches to support the arts sector.

We are no longer in the era of the tortured artist. Trauma-informed practices and psychotherapeutic services are becoming more in demand to support artists’ and arts workers’ physical, cognitive, emotional, social and cultural health. With a Master of Creative Arts Therapy, Tanya offers a range of Artist Wellbeing Services, from identifying ways to support a particular project or person to embedding practices of wellbeing from the beginning of a season in a companywide approach.

Workshops, group or one on one sessions are uniquely designed to meet individually defined goals or assessed needs for artists with and without disability. This can support a creative development, performance season or tour with preventative measures, ways to process complex material, how to de-role to avoid taking character work away from the studio, and managing collaborative ways of working in supportive environments.

I believe that a company who models wellbeing practices, supports the health of the whole company and the success of each project. This contributes to the sector wellbeing and ensures care as practice.

Artist Wellbeing

A one off session or a program series for you or your company focussing on one or more areas- physical, emotional, cognitive, social and/or cultural domains. Aims could include gaining insight into practice or a character, to unburden from a creative process, to process through supported feedback, or be guided through a movement or artistic medium as a way to process.

Company Wellbeing & Training

Meaningful ways of engaging company members -artists and arts workers- to engage in inclusive practices, strengthen corporate mental health, improve workplace practices. Examples of company development workshops include trauma-informed awareness, recognising cultural diversity, understanding communication styles, group process, implementing self-care, counselling and mediation.

Art of Movement

Art of Movement workshops are an act of self-care. Through movement and embodied drawing practices that can be tailored to a specific theme, each participant can take a personal journey through the group experience. These workshops can be scheduled as a celebration at the end of the year or the end of a season, or to engage intergenerational or diverse company members together to enhance workplace interactivity. This could also be a workshop for your company’s community to support a performance or exhibition that is a challenging subject.

Recently Art of Movement workshops have been run at Flinders Medical Centre, The Mill and Art Gallery of South Australia for NatureFest & WellFest.
