  • YEILD at AGSA #2

YIELD performance within the installation of Jen Matthews Yard (2026) , responded to Tanya Voges’ improvisational scores exploring the concept of yield strength- the bending point of metal - weaving elements of contact improvisation and partnering dance to share weight to generate new movement pathways. The musical response by Margie Jean Lewis was made by reading the dance, as if the choreography of the bodies were conducting the pitch, volume, and repetition of notes.

  • YIELD : Art Gallery of South Australia 2026

Joined by performers Jazz Hrskin, Sam Matthewman and Amelia Walmsley, Tanya Voges and Margie Jean Lewis performed these scores in two site responsive performances to intergenrational audiences.

These images are impressions of my choreographic improvisational scores that have been documented verbal instructions in handwritten form and typed up for translation by collaborating dancers in previous improvised performances. These documents represent the tangible part of an otherwise ephemeral practice. In the Adhocracy Residency we will work with new co-created scores and print the improvisational scores for the audience to have. Something between a program and choreographic notes, Johnathon Burrows Choreographer’s Notebook and Deborah Hay’s Librettos.
