Understory and Memorial for Forgotten Plants
MEMORIAL FOR FORGOTTEN PLANTS
A collaborative project with Louise Flaherty (visual artist), Belinda Gehlert (musician) and Tanya Voges (dance) exploring the temporal nature of plant life.
Developed in response to Adelaide’s changing landscape since colonisation, I created a danced response to Louise Flaherty’s research into the native flora, some of it which has been reintroduced in recent years within the Parklands, and preserve in the seed banks at the Adeliade Botanic Gardens. Drawing on my experiences of participatory works, I helped choreograph the audience experience and worked alongside both Louise and Belinda to facilitate community workshops that engaged people in our creative practice.

EVERY BODY DANCE
Working as a choreographer & facilitator with Adrianne Semmens for Australian Dance Theatre and Mount Barker District Council -MBDC -who’s motto is Make/Believe/Dream/Create, we worked with a group of adults living with a disability and their carers.
The project explored themes of belonging and place, giving voice to the participants through movement as expression. This project culminated with a community performance at Ukaria and was captured in an award winning documentary created by Channel 44. (The link is to the full 24minute documentary).
UNDERSTORY
Louise Flaherty (visual artist), Belinda Gehlert (musician) and Tanya Voges (dance artist) were engaged by Fabrik to develop a site specific, community responsive work within the context of the fire affected Lobethal Bushland Park.
Funded by Arts South Australia, presented by Fabrik, project managed by Melinda Rankin. Community contributions through consultation and arts workshops helped inform the experimental work that took shape as part bushwalk, part expanded drawing, part storytelling, music and dance performance.
